What you see here is now the Fourth generation of puppyTail and what amounts to the most researched toy in the SquarePeg line. My commitment to deliver the best toy possible with no gimmicks is really evident in the puppyTail. Completely redesigned from scratch for 2010, pups tell me v3.0 was the best tail they’ve ever owned, this one is sure to exceed expectations. Beware of knock-offs! If it’s not from one of my select retailers it’s not authentic.

Unlike the previous generation, which wagged predominately up and down, the 4.0 has 360 degree responsiveness.  The tail itself is lithe and holds itself up perfectly with a little upward curl, giving you the maximum projection. The whole tail works together to transmit motion dynamically all the way out to the tip, I call it my “Wag Factor”.  Only SquarePeg has this technology built into each and every tail, each one going through an intensive 3 day production process to get it all to work just right. And SquarePeg uses Platinum grade silicone for strength, longevity and bio-compatibility.

So what’s the big deal? Silicone’s one piece, cold cast process allows precision molding that reliably duplicates all the different design elements that make this tail really work as it should. Hot melt rubbers and vinyls can’t and don’t. And for the safety of long term wear, only silicone is free of any plasticizers or other chemicals. Silicone naturally provides the right amount of bounce and weight to make the most realistic wag, other rubbers are too stiff and brittle.

Design considerations

Seamless construction so it doesn’t cut or irritate, super comfortable egg shape with locking neck, narrow “anvil” tip for comfort and to allow you to wag your tail without moving by simply squeezing your hole, perfectly proportioned tail for maximum bounce and responsiveness.

Caring for your tail

The silicone itself won’t deteriorate, so as long as you give it some minimal care your tail will last you a lifetime. Wash by hand with plain soap and water after use and store dry.  Store it separate from other toys and in a way that it doesn’t crease at the neck or anywhere along the tail. Creases become tears if they’re bad enough. It’s a good idea to find a box with a lid it’ll fit in comfortably without forcing and use it.  Store away from any vinyl toys that smell of plastic as the plasticizers in these can eat away at the silicone.  As for lube, you probably don’t want to use much if any unless you want extra work holding it in.  I recommend a little spit or water-based just to get it in as this gets absorbed and then locks the plug in place.

Note that the Medium comes with either a 10″ or 13″ tail (Medium Long).  The latter is considerably more substantial and needs a well trained pup to control it.
