Common Commands for Puppy Play


  • Sit – give the command and push down on your pups ass till it is on the floor or squatting on her ankles
  • Stay – give the command when you want them to remain in one place and not move.
  • Wait – similar to the command Stay, used when the pup is to remain in the immediate area and not to follow her Master
  • Down – moves the pup to a prone position on the ground
  • Come – calls the pup to your feet were they assume a sitting position
  • Heel – calls the puppy to a position to the left and slightly to the rear of their Master
  • Show – the pet assumes a position on all fours, her toes or knees spread slightly wider than their thighs, head up, eyes forward and with their parts exposed for use
  • Off – a command used when you want them to move off of furniture or off of you
  • Settle – used to calm down an excited puppy
  • No – self explanatory
  • Speak – when you want your pup to bark
  • Fetch
  • Beg
  • Play
